The vivo Y21 launched in 2021, and now the brand is working on the Y21 5G. Weird, we know, but apparently vivo couldn’t help but reuse this name, despite there being an infinite number of other options.

The Y21 5G will come with a 6,355 mAh rated battery in India and Malaysia, and a 5,090 mAh rated battery elsewhere. These capacities will probably end up advertised as typical 6,500 mAh and 5,250 mAh, respectively.

We know all this because the phone has two model numbers for its two versions: V2553, already certified for sale in India and Malaysia by BIS and SIRIM, respectively, and V2554. Both iterations have also been spotted in the EPREL database. They will both support 44W wired charging.

The EPREL labels also reveal that the Y21 5G’s battery should last for 1,600 charge cycles before going under 80% of its initial capacity. The Y21 5G got an A for drop resistance and a C for repairability. It will be IP65 certified for dust and splash resistance. It will receive Android security updates for five years.
