Support CleanTechnica’s work through a Substack subscription or on Stripe. In response to rising petrol and diesel costs and the uncertainty of where they will peak, March has seen a surge in Electric Vehicle sales across Australia and New Zealand. Reports of rapidly increasing search numbers — doubling each week — according to reports in the main stream media led me to investigate further. Now I am hearing of car sale yards being emptied of any sort of electrified vehicle and waiting lists growing longer. Prices for second hand EVs have also increased. Dealers have been warned not to sell…

Hadlee Simons / Android AuthorityWearables have come a long way from just counting steps. These days, they’re feature-packed wellness companions, tracking us through everything from sweaty workouts to abbreviated REM cycles. For a lot of shoppers, the idea of a daily health hub is the whole point. It’s also exactly why Samsung’s approach feels increasingly self-defeating. It’s now 2026, and some of the brand’s headline smartwatch features still depend on what phone you’re using. Is your Galaxy Watch paired with a Samsung smartphone?3177 votesYes, I use a Galaxy Watch paired with a Samsung smartphone.89%No, I use a Galaxy Watch, but…
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is one of the most prevalent and clinically challenging neurodegenerative disorders worldwide [1]. In 2024, it affects nearly 7 million Americans aged 65 and older, and as populations continue to age, U.S. care costs are expected to exceed $1 trillion annually by 2050 [2]. Globally, AD cases are projected to rise to 78 million by 2030 and 153 million by 2050, placing an immense socioeconomic and healthcare burden on societies [3]. Although the precise etiology of AD remains elusive, extensive evidence implicates amyloid-β (Aβ) misfolding, tau hyperphosphorylation, and their abnormal aggregation as key drivers of neuronal injury…
SED News is a monthly podcast from Software Engineering Daily where hosts Gregor Vand and Sean Falconer unpack the biggest stories shaping software engineering, Silicon Valley, and the broader tech industry. In this episode, they cover the resurgence of ARM and CPUs as serious compute infrastructure for running local AI agents, a supply chain attack on LiteLLM that exposed API credentials across thousands of developer environments, and the arrival of OpenCode as a fully open source alternative to Claude Code and Codex. They also discuss the diverging strategies of Anthropic and OpenAI following the Pentagon contract controversy, and what it…
Students who use AI tools extensively may struggle with knowledge retention, according to new research. Brazilian social scientist Andre Barcaui looked at two groups of students, one using ChatGPT as a study aid and the other using more traditional methods, before giving them a surprise test after 45 days. He found that those who had depended on AI scored an average of 57.5 percent on a knowledge retention test, compared to an average of 68.5 percent for those who had studied traditionally. This randomized controlled trial showed that unrestricted use of ChatGPT as a study aid can impair long-term knowledge…
As we march into the spring, the global telecoms sector’s proving that there’s no rest for the wicked—or the well-funded. From multi-billion-euro power plays in Europe to the long-awaited unwinding of South American legacies, the deal-making machinery is humming at a high frequency. Whether it’s a ‘lowball’ offer causing a stir in Brazil or a historic merger facing regulatory hurdles in Singapore, this month’s activity confirms that the only constant in telecoms is change. Welcome to the M&A Monthly from TeleGeography’s GlobalComms team, where we track the deals that keep the world connected.
An encoder (optical system) maps objects to noiseless images, which noise corrupts into measurements. Our information estimator uses only these noisy measurements and a noise model to quantify how well measurements distinguish objects. Many imaging systems produce measurements that humans never see or cannot interpret directly. Your smartphone processes raw sensor data through algorithms before producing the final photo. MRI scanners collect frequency-space measurements that require reconstruction before doctors can view them. Self-driving cars process camera and LiDAR data directly with neural networks. What matters in these systems is not how measurements look, but how much useful information they contain.…
Mikko Hyppönen is pacing back and forth on the stage, with his trademark dark blonde ponytail resting on an impeccable teal suit. A seasoned speaker, he is trying to make an important point to a room full of fellow hackers and security researchers at one of the industry’s global annual meet-ups. “I often call this ‘cybersecurity Tetris’,” he tells the audience with a serious face, reeling off the rules of the classic video game. When you complete a whole line of bricks, the row vanishes, leaving the rest of the bricks to fall into a new line. “So your successes…
Artificial intelligence has evolved from a side initiative to a force shaping enterprise data strategy in real time. In our 2026 State of Data Integrity and AI Readiness report, published by Precisely in partnership with the Center for Applied AI and Business Analytics at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, more than half of data leaders (52%) say AI is the primary force influencing their data programs. Predictive, generative, and Agentic AI are all moving quickly from experimentation to expectation. But beneath that momentum, leaders revealed two deeply connected realities: AI excitement is outpacing organizational readiness. Skill shortages remain one of…
