Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX: VCM) today announced that TX Fiber, a leading independent fiber broadband provider serving South Texas, has deployed a next-generation 10-gigabit fiber network powered by its Entra® XGS-PON Solution. The deployment delivers symmetrical multi-gigabit internet service to residents and businesses across TX Fiber’s service territory in the Rio Grande Valley, closing the broadband gap between South Texas and the nation’s largest metros.
With the launch, TX Fiber becomes one of the first independent providers in South Texas to offer symmetrical 10 Gbps-capable service over a fully modern XGS-PON fiber platform. The deployment positions TX Fiber to scale bandwidth to meet the fast-growing demand from residential customers, small businesses, enterprise accounts, and emerging use cases, including 5G backhaul, telehealth, remote work, and AI-powered applications and services.
Vecima’s turnkey Entra XGS-PON Solution features three core components:
-
Entra vPON Manager™ — delivers service provisioning, configuration, fault management, and streaming telemetry, bringing powerful automation, visibility, and control to XGS-PON deployments;
-
Entra EXS1610-XGS Shelf Optical Line Terminal (OLT) — a best-in-class ITU PON platform that supports Combo PON (XGS-PON & GPON) for 10G services today, while providing backward-compatible support for legacy GPON customer premises equipment; and
-
Open Network Ecosystem (ONE™) — an ecosystem of interoperable third-party ONU/ONT partners, ensuring no single-vendor lock-in and delivering industry-leading investment protection.
TX Fiber plans to continue expanding its XGS-PON footprint across additional South Texas communities throughout 2026 and 2027, with further network announcements expected in the coming months.
