Much of the economic concern around artificial intelligence (AI) is from the expectation that AI will lead to millions upon millions of job losses. Professional drivers, writers, lower-level software engineers, and even young lawyers are expected to lose their jobs en masse — or already are. But what about massively overpaid CEOs?

At the top of the “food chain,” there are a millions examples of people “failing up” or just rotating from top job to top job because they got to the top somehow, not because they’re actually good at it. You can see it in the Fortune 500, in sports (coaches that fail badly but then get another top job), an various other places.

Beyond that issue, there’s the fact that there’s been a massively growing wealth gap between CEOs and “common workers.” We have intense wealth inequality rising rapidly in the US and elsewhere, and there seems to be no intention or serious recipe for getting it under control.

Well, one funny dude or dudette has proposed a solution, even if just as a joke. Someone has set up the AI site OverpAId, offering the “world’s first Chief Executive Replacement Engine.” The joke explainer is actually quote compelling: “OverpAId is an Artificial Intelligence built from the ground up to do your CEO’s entire job — strategy, ‘vision,’ motivational all-hands emails — better, faster, and without ever once asking the board for a bigger jet,” the site enthusiastically offers. Who doesn’t want that!

Forget getting an expensive, overpaid human to run your company. Get a super cheap AI equivalent. Look at these facts (real ones, by the way):

Here’s more fun to lighten your day:

There’s a lot more on the website — which is actually somehow overpaid.lol — and I encourage you to check it out.

Perhaps this is AI that would really help society dramatically? Nah, let’s not use this idea….
