    What you need to know

    • Pixel 10 users report flickering issues with the always-on display after the December 2025 update.
    • The flicker appears during wireless charging, clock refreshes, and sometimes after unlocking the phone.
    • The bug seems limited to Pixel 10 devices, with no similar reports from older Pixel models so far.

Google released a new update for Pixel smartphones earlier this week, bringing new features like AI-powered notifications, lock screen widgets, new custom icon shapes, and more. However, as with every new Pixel update, the December 2025 update for Pixel 10 devices seems to be causing issues with the always-on display.

As spotted by a user on Reddit (via Android Authority), Pixel 10 owners report that post the December 2025 update, the always-on display on their devices flickers under certain circumstances.

Some users say it flickers when the screensaver appears during wireless charging, while others report a “hard flicker” when the clock updates in always-on display mode.

Another user reports that after unlocking their device while in always-on display mode, the screen goes “completely black” for a second. We haven’t experienced the issue on our end with any Pixel 10 units, but based on the Reddit thread, many users seem to be affected.

For now, it appears the bug is affecting only Pixel 10 devices, at least based on current reports, and isn’t impacting other Pixel models.

If you’re facing similar issues on your Pixel 10, the only reliable workaround for now is turning off always-on display from Settings. You can disable it by going to Settings > Display & touch > Always-on display and toggling it off.

This is actually the second time since the Pixel 10 series launched in August 2025 that users have reported a display issue. Back in September 2025, Pixel 10 owners said the screen would turn black during transitions, which Google fixed with a later update.

However, now, issues with AoD display are being reported. We haven’t heard anything official from Google about the bug yet, but if it’s widespread enough, the company may roll out a hotfix for Pixel 10 users soon. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
