Vodafone Idea Discontinues Vi Guarantee Extra Data Benefit for Smartphone Users
Vodafone Idea (Vi) seems to have discontinued the Vi Guarantee extra-data program, which offered free data benefits to new smartphone prepaid users. Launched in May 2024 as a limited-period offer, the Vi Guarantee Program provided free high-speed data for “all 5G and new 4G smartphone users.”

Vi Guarantee for Smartphone Users: Extra Data

Under the Vi Guarantee program, users received 130GB of guaranteed extra data over one year. This meant that 10GB of data was automatically credited to the customer’s account every 28 days for 13 consecutive cycles. The Vi Guarantee Extra Data offer could be availed through the Vi App.

At launch, users were required to be on a daily data unlimited plan priced at Rs 239 or above. The offer was valid for Vi subscribers with 5G smartphones or those who had recently upgraded to a new 4G smartphone.

“Vi Guarantee offer is currently available to all 5G and new 4G smartphone users across India except Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam and North East and Orissa,” Vi announced at the time of launch on May 27, 2025.

Vi Guarantee for 2G Users: Extra Validity

In July this year, Vi rolled out the Vi Guarantee Programme for its prepaid customers using 2G handsets, offering two days of extra validity (totalling 24 days per year) on unlimited voice recharges (Rs 199 and above), ensuring a 30-day cycle.

“The Vi Guarantee benefit is applicable for prepaid customers who are using 2G handsets and are on Unlimited voice recharge packs of Rs 199 and above.”

During the announcement for 2G handset users, Vi also highlighted the continuation of the existing Vi Guarantee program for smartphone users, stating: “The Vi Guarantee Programme for 4G and 5G customers, launched last year, continues to be available, offering a total of 130GB guaranteed extra data over one year…To avail this, customers will need to be on a daily data unlimited plans of Rs 299 and above.”

In essence, it became a dual-pronged program: extra validity for basic users and bonus data for 4G/5G users—designed to give more value to 2G users and uninterrupted data to smartphone users.

    Requirement Revision in 2025

However, the initial recharge requirement of Rs 239 increased to Rs 299 in July 2025. Now, it appears that the extra-data program for new smartphone users has been discontinued following the nationwide launch of Non-Stop Hero plans, which offer unlimited data starting at Rs 349 or Rs 365, depending on the circle.

    Vi Guarantee: Extra Data Discontinuation

The Vi Guarantee program—its extra-data indicators and benefits—no longer appears on the Vi App or website. The USSD activation message states: “This offer has ended. To enjoy unlimited data, subscribe to our Non Stop Hero Plans.”

However, we believe that existing smartphone users who were previously enrolled in this program may continue to receive the free data benefits, while new users will be required to subscribe to Vi’s Non-Stop Hero Plans or unlimited data plans.

Also, Vi is offering up to 50 percent off on metro tickets on the Vi App as a limited-time offer.
