Summary created by Smart Answers AI

    In summary:

    • Tech Advisor reports that Invincible Season 4 premieres March 18, 2026 on Prime Video, with Steven Yeun and J.K. Simmons returning alongside new addition Lee Pace as villain Thragg.
    • Mark Grayson faces escalating threats from Viltrumites, Sequids preparing Earth invasion, and potential journey to Hell while seeking powerful weapons like the Infinity Ray.
    • The eight-episode season releases weekly through April 22, 2026, promising intense battles as multiple alien forces converge on Earth for large-scale conflicts.

The fourth instalment of the genre-bending superhero series is out – and Mark once again has his hands full battling aliens, demons and his own trauma.

Mark Grayson and the rest of the Earthlings won’t get a moment of peace, as not only are the Viltrumites preparing for an invasion, but also the Sequids and, most surprisingly, inhabitants of Hell.

Invincible season 3 featured the usual gruesome fights, alien invasions and inter-dimensional travels. Many fans thought the plot would largely be devoted to the fight against the Viltrumites. As it turned out, the creators were still setting the stage for a future war – in the third season, only one Viltrumite appeared. However, he wreaked even greater havoc than Nolan did in the season 1 finale.

Will there be a clash between Earthlings and Viltrumites in the fourth season of Invincible? We’ve gathered the news and rumours about the next season of the Amazon Prime Video series.

Be sure to check out our article on how Invincible gets around Marvel’s big superhero problem.

When will Invincible season 4 be released?

The first episodes of the fourth season of Invincible are available on Prime Video.

Season 4 was confirmed in July 2024. It came as no surprise – the Mark Grayson series is a smash hit on Prime Video, and there’s still plenty of comic book material left to adapt.

What will the plot of Invincible season 4 cover?

    Spoilers for season 3 below.

For now, the creators haven’t announced an official plot description for season 4. However, we’ve prepared a list of seven key plot lines that we believe should appear in season 4.

    Angstrom Levy’s revenge

After the gory fight in season 2, Mark was convinced that he’d murdered the mad scientist, who blamed him for his misfortune. However, in season 3, Angstrom returned to get revenge on Invincible. This time, he arrived with a troop of Mark’s evil incarnations from other dimensions, who destroyed several cities and slaughtered civilians.

Earth’s superheroes eventually overcame the alternate Invincibles, and Mark once again beat Angstrom. But at the last moment, the scientist managed to escape through a portal to another dimension, where three robotic doctors saved his life.

The mysterious creatures, however, seemed to have their own plans – they agreed to help Angstrom but demanded he work for them in return. In the comic books, they were once humans who inserted cybernetic equipment into their bodies to survive on the alternate Earth destroyed by their reckless doings. In the series, they want Angstrom to find them a new world to conquer, to prey on its resources.

In season 4, we expect the mad scientist to return, possibly with the cybernetic creatures ready to take control over Earth.

    Viltrumite invasion

The invasion of a superhuman race is a major plot line in Invincible, but it unfolds slowly. In the season 3 finale, a cruel Viltrumite, Conquest, finally arrived to take over Earth. This resulted in a brutal clash with Mark and Oliver, leading to more carnage in the cities. In the end, Conquest was defeated by Mark and Atom Eve, who, being on the brink of death, unlocked her power to control organic matter.

As it turned out, the massacred Conquest didn’t die – Cecil imprisoned him in a secret base, hoping to drag information about the superhuman empire from the Viltrumite. It’s expected that, despite the countermeasures, Conquest will break free in the next season – perhaps he’ll start wreaking havoc on Earth again, or maybe he’ll try to escape to his planet to bring back a larger group of Viltrumites.

The search for weapons against the Viltrumites

As it turned out in season 2, the lame books Nolan wrote years earlier were memories of past adventures rather than sci-fi stories. Omni-Man smuggled into the novels information about artefacts and beings powerful enough to injure the Viltrumites.

Among them appeared the Infinity Ray possessed by Space Racer. It’s a weapon that emits an unstoppable energy wave that can destroy anything. Another threat to the Viltrumites were the Rognarrs, lizard-like creatures inhabiting a planet with dense gravity, which made them develop extraordinary strength.

In season 3, there was no mention of these weapons. Thanks to the trailer we know that in season 4, Mark will encounter Space Racer and the Rognarrs. But persuading them to fight against the Viltrumites may not be easy.

Invincible season 4 - Thragg (Lee Pace)

    Amazon Prime Video

    Nolan’s redemption arc

After the massacre on Earth, his stay on the planet Thraxa and the reunion with Mark, Omni-Man was captured by a troop of Viltrumites who imprisoned him and sentenced to death for betrayal. However, Allen the Alien came to his aid and helped Nolan escape the prison, killing its guardians and two Viltrumites. In season 4, Nolan, filled with remorse and longing for his family, should join the fight against the Viltrumites.

Of course, remember that Nolan is very old, and the Viltrumite ideals run deep in him. As an ally, he can be unpredictable.

    Threat from the Sequids

In season 2, after being rescued from the Sequids and returning from Mars, astronaut Rus tried to build his life anew. However, as he was cleaning up his apartment, he was again attacked by an octopus-like creature that had apparently managed to get to Earth.

In an Alien-like scene, a Sequid entwined Rus and took over his body. However, in season 3, they stayed dormant – as it was revealed in the season finale, they hid in the sewers, slowly breeding and preparing an army. Thus, in season 4, Invincible will probably have to face an invasion of body-snatching space parasites.

    Demons from Hell

The Earth depicted in Invincible is struggling with a multitude of villains and alien races trying to colonise it, and it looks like they’ll soon be joined by demons from Hell. The season 3 finale featured Damien Darkblood, a demon detective, who investigated the murder of Guardians of the Globe in season 1 but was sent back to the underworld by Cecil.

However, in the final episode of season 3, Darkblood unexpectedly returns – he contacts the demon overlord and offers to help him regain the “infernal throne”. The tool is to be a super-human dwelling on Earth – probably referring to Mark.

In the comics, Darkblood, inspired by Watchmen’s Rorschach and Hellboy, disappeared from the plot quickly. As it turns out, Robert Kirkman, comic book and series creator, regrets that he didn’t develop the demon detective’s plot. In a statement to Cartoonist Kayfabe, Kirkman said:

One thing I really regret is I never had an adventure where the superheroes went to Hell. There’s been so many superhero comics where they gotta go fight Mephisto or something, and I just never got around to that. (…) The Damien Darkblood character in Invincible was there so I could eventually do a story like that, and I never got around to it.

Invincible season 4 - Invincible (Steven Yeun) and Dinosaurus (Matthew Rhys)

    Amazon Prime Video

In an interview with Grace Randolph, Kirkman said the following:

Along the way, I really like the idea of bringing in different storylines that maybe I considered doing in the comics… there’s a really cool Damien Darkblood plot that I had. I’ve always loved the superhero trope of superheroes going to Hell, it happens in Marvel and DC comics all the time.

We never got round to doing it in Invincible but I’d always planned for there to be some adventure where Invincible has to go to Hell to do something with Damien Darkblood, and we’re hopefully going to be able to do it in the show.

All indications are that in season 4, Mark will finally take a trip to the infernal dimensions.

    Mr. Liu’s revenge

In season 3, an Asian cyborg who takes the form of a green Chinese dragon is the leader of the crime syndicate called The Order. After a clash with Titan, supported by Invincible, Liu’s body is killed, but his spirit is somehow restored during a ritual performed by his sidekick.

Mr. Liu told Mark before his death: “Your power may come from the stars, but mine comes from beyond this reality”. That means that in season 4 the cyborg may return to regain the power over the criminal underworld and get revenge on Mark.

    Invincible - Mr Liu

    Prime Video

Of course, we can expect plenty more development in the personal lives of the cast. The relationship of Invincible and Atom Eve will develop, as will the romance of Debbie and Paul, and Monster Girl and Rudy/Robot. Mark and his mom will probably have a lot of problems with Oliver, who, because of his Thraxan background, grows up faster than other children.

Invincible season 4 voice cast and characters

We expect the following cast members to reprise their roles in the fourth instalment of the show:

    • Steven Yeun – Mark Grayson/Invincible
    • J.K. Simmons – Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man
    • Sandra Oh – Debbie Grayson
    • Christian Convery – Oliver, Mark’s purple half-brother
    • Zazie Beetz – Amber Bennett
    • Gillian Jacobs – Eve Wilkins/Atom Eve
    • Grey Griffin – Monster Girl and Shrinking Rae
    • Zachary Quinto – Rudy/Robot
    • Walton Goggins – Cecil Stedman
    • Seth Rogen – Allen the Alien
    • Sterling K. Brown – Angstrom Levy
    • Chris Diamantopoulos – Donald Ferguson
    • Ross Farquand – The Immortal and Rudy Connors
    • Ben Schwartz – The Shapesmith
    • Andrew Rannells – William Clockwell
    • Jay Pharoah – Bulletproof
    • Aaron Paul – Powerplex, aka Scott Duvall
    • Simu Liu – Multi-Paul, aka Paul Cha, a superhuman who can duplicate himself
    • Tzi Ma – Mr. Liu, an Asian cyborg who can take the form of a Chinese dragon
    • Jeffrey Dean Morgan – Conquest, the vicious Viltrumite
    • Doug Bradley – The Technicians, cybernetic creatures helping Angstrom Levy

The biggest casting news is that Lee Pace will voice Thragg, the cruel Grand Regent of the Viltrum Empire. The actor is known for his roles in Foundation, The Hobbit, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Bodies Bodies Bodies, among others.

Sadly, Rex Splode, voiced by Jason Mantzoukas, won’t be back in season 4 – the superhero died during a fight with one of Mark’s evil incarnations.

We aren’t sure if Xolo Maridueña, who voiced Dropkick and Fightmaster, twins and time-travelling martial arts masters, will appear in the new season.

It’s also unclear if the Maulers twins, killed in season 3 by Oliver, will return in the new episodes. So far, they’ve always managed to make a comeback, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for another resurrection of the mischievous duo.

Will there be Invincible season 5?

Yes, Amazon has officially greenlit season 5. It’s also known that Matthew Rhys (The Beast in Me, Perry Mason) has joined the voice cast.
