Defense tech startup Anduril Industries has faced numerous setbacks during testing of its autonomous weapons systems, according to new reporting by the WSJ. The problems cited include more than a dozen drone boats that failed during a Navy exercise off California in May, with sailors warning of safety violations and potential loss of life; a mechanical issue that damaged the engine of Anduril’s unmanned jet fighter Fury during a summer ground test; and an August test of its Anvil counterdrone system that caused a 22-acre fire in Oregon. Founded in 2017 by Palmer Luckey, Anduril raised $2.5 billion back in…

Commerce is entering a new phase where customer trust depends not on discounts or delivery speed but on the reliability of every promise made. In an environment of constant demand shifts, supply uncertainty, and rising expectations, enterprises are rethinking how orders are captured, fulfilled, and communicated. The once-invisible Order Management System (OMS) is emerging as the control center of this transformation.  Traditional OMS platforms were designed for stability not volatility. Built around static rules and linear workflows, they now struggle to keep pace with dynamic pricing, omnichannel fulfillment, and real-time customer expectations. As commerce becomes more interconnected, enterprises need an OMS that does more than record…

Tensor operations are a form of advanced mathematics that support many modern technologies, especially artificial intelligence. These operations go far beyond the simple calculations most people encounter. A helpful way to picture them is to imagine manipulating a Rubik’s cube in several dimensions at once by rotating, slicing, or rearranging its layers. Humans and traditional computers must break these tasks into sequences, but light can perform all of them at the same time. Today, tensor operations are essential for AI systems involved in image processing, language understanding, and countless other tasks. As the amount of data continues to grow, conventional…

At its core, the insurance industry is about accurately predicting risk, pricing policies to cover that risk, and minimizing fraud. Enriched data, like geospatial data, adds critical context to existing information about policyholders, insured properties, and more. For data-driven insurance companies, data about properties, locations, and their physical characteristics provide a competitive advantage. Now, insurers can take this even further with solutions like Precisely Data Link for Dun & Bradstreet, which pre-links business and location data for a complete, unified view of risk. With unified data that combines occupancy, property, and climate risk insights with payment, ownership, financial strength insights,…

OpenAI is notifying some ChatGPT API customers that limited identifying information was exposed following a breach at its third-party analytics provider Mixpanel. Mixpanel offers event analytics that OpenAI uses to track user interactions on the frontend interface for the API product. According to the AI company, the cyber incident affected “limited analytics data related to some users of the API” and did not impact users of ChatGPT or other products. “This was not a breach of OpenAI’s systems. No chat, API requests, API usage data, passwords, credentials, API keys, payment details, or government IDs were compromised or exposed,” OpenAI says…

When global leaders, scientists, activists, and Indigenous communities gathered in Belém for COP30, expectations were monumental. Not simply because the Amazon symbolized both the wonder and fragility of our planet, but because the summit arrived at a tipping point: the world needed more than pledges—it needed execution, enforcement, and equity. What followed was a summit with big wins and clear gaps. Some areas finally moved forward, such as adaptation funding, Indigenous leadership, and new roadmaps for key sectors. But one major goal remained out of reach: a firm global plan to phase out fossil fuels. For people in higher education,…

I know I’m almost a decade late to this party, but I’m probably not the only one, so here goes. Double Fine Adventure was a wildly successful 2012 Kickstarter project to crowdfund the development of a point-and-click adventure game and, crucially, to document its development on video. The resulting game Broken Age was eventually released in two parts in 2014 and 2015. Broken Age is a beautiful game and I recommend you try it. It’s available for lots of platforms and is pretty cheap (10–15 euros/dollars or less). I played it on the Nintendo Switch, which worked very well. Broken…
