Large language models (LLMs) sometimes learn the wrong lessons, according to an MIT study.Rather than answering a query based on domain knowledge, an LLM could respond by leveraging grammatical patterns it learned during training. This can cause a model to fail unexpectedly when deployed on new tasks. The researchers found that models can mistakenly link certain sentence patterns to specific topics, so an LLM might give a convincing answer by recognizing familiar phrasing instead of understanding the question.Their experiments showed that even the most powerful LLMs can make this mistake. This shortcoming could reduce the reliability of LLMs that perform tasks like…

The creation and deployment of applications that utilize Large Language Models (LLMs) comes with their own set of problems. LLMs have non-deterministic nature, can generate plausible but false information and tracing their actions in convoluted sequences can be very troublesome. In this guide, we’ll see how Langfuse comes up as an essential instrument for solving these problems, by offering a strong foundation for whole observability, assessment, and prompt handling of LLM applications. What is Langfuse? Langfuse is a groundbreaking observability and assessment platform that is open source and specifically created for LLM applications. It is the foundation for tracing, viewing, and debugging all the stages of an LLM interaction, starting…

A portmanteau of “development” and “operations,” devops emerged as a way of bringing together two previously separate groups responsible for the building and deploying of software. In the old world, developers (devs) typically wrote code before throwing it over to the system administrators (operations, or ops) to deploy and integrate that code. But as the industry shifted towards agile development and cloud-native computing, many organizations reoriented around modern, cloud-native practices in the pursuit of faster, better releases. This required a new way to perform these key functions in a more streamlined, efficient, and cohesive way, one where the old frustrations of disconnected…

Tesla was founded on the 1st of July in 2003 by a group of engineers based in San Carlos, California. They launched their first electric car 5 years later in 2008 – the Roadster. Since then, they have gone on to design the world’s first-ever premium all-electric sedan, the Model S, along with many more mind-boggling electric cars that all use the same cutting-edge battery technology Tesla has become so famous for. Unique visual design aside, you may be asking yourself… How exactly do Tesla cars work? Tesla vehicles, also referred to as Electric Vehicles (EVs), employ an electric motor in…

I use a custom AppTheme type and inject it via a custom EnvironmentKey. Views can access the theme using @Environment(\.appTheme) or override it explicitly. While this work fine in most cases it somhow causes mysterios crashed deep inside SwiftUI internal code. The crash does not happen inside my code and Xcode does not show a meaningful stack trace. The crash only happens when using the environment value inside the modifier (see demo code below). Using @Environment(\.appTheme) directly inside views works perfectly. The theme does not change dynamically and is a plain struct. I only want globally accessible style definitions. So…

Yet the depth of this integration varies. Despite widespread interest, over half of these organisations (57%) report being stuck in limited deployments or proof-of-concept stages. For CIOs and COOs, this data highlights an…
